To support our collective effort to enhance public health for cancer patients-from clinical applications to supporting research to building a more robust health system in general-the College of American Pathologists (CAP) is sponsoring a series of Cancer Data Champions webinars.

This series will examine both visionary topics for the use of data and real-world, hands-on opportunities to utilize the current data stores. Please join us as we explore the breadth and depth of pathology data that is readily available to support these initiatives.

Pathology Report Data Life Cycle: How to Access Cancer Surveillance Data

    November 16, 2023

    1:00 PM CT

    Webinar

Many single-institution studies and clinical trials are not representative of the underlying population, and case series are often underpowered for addressing many important research questions. Population-scale cancer surveillance data can be used to answer pathology-related research questions with findings having the potential to impact patient care. Databases include tumor characteristics and biomarkers, stage at diagnosis, case demographics, treatment information, and disease outcomes. In this webinar, speakers from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will present information about available data resources covering the US population and North America as well as the National Childhood Cancer Registry (NCCR). For each resource, attendees will learn about publicly available data visualization tools and how to gain access to the data for their own research.
