    Remote Employment Opportunities with the Florida Cancer Data System (FCDS)

     

    The FCDS is currently the second largest Population Based Central Cancer Registry in North America.  Since 1978 the FCDS has been a joint project between the NCI Designated Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami School of Medicine and the Florida Department of Health. The FCDS receives over 270,000 cases per year yielding over 130,000 new incidence cases.

     

    The FCDS has two open positions:  Sr. Central Cancer Registry Specialist (Field Coordinator) and Sr. Central Cancer Registry Specialist (Quality Control Coordinator).  Both positions will allow for telecommuting and NCRA certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) is required.

     

    Sr. Central Cancer Registry Specialist (Quality Control Coordinator):

    The responsibilities of this position are to work with the FCDS QC team on the annual re-abstracting audits and ad-hoc studies, participate on the visual review process of abstracts including resolving any discrepancies, provide assistance during the national call for data and the annual FAPTP linkage, contribute and present educational topics based on QC findings at the FCDS Annual Meeting and for webinars, write articles and contribute topics for the FCDS Monthly Memo, and assist with the annual updates of the Data Acquisition Manual.

     

    NCRA certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) required. This position will allow for telecommuting.

    Sr. Central Cancer Registry Specialist (Field Coordinator):

    This position operates as the primary contact between FCDS and our reporting sources and registrars. The responsibilities of this position are to ensure reporting compliance from the reporting facilities, process daily cancer cases submissions, review cancer data for completeness and accuracy, resolve data discrepancies in accordance with data reporting standards, and work closely with the FCDS QC team. The position also functions as the first point of contact for issues and problems for our reporting community.

     

    NCRA certification as a Certified Tumor Registrar (CTR) required. This position will allow for telecommuting.
