Greetings from the NAACCR XML Workgroup!
The NAACCR v23 XML Base Dictionary and XML Data Exchange Standard v1.6 are available on the NAACCR website at: www.naaccr.org/xml-data-exchange-standard
The NAACCR Data Exchange Standard, XML Specifications for Cancer Registry Records has been updated to version 1.6 (June 2022). Changes since version 1.5 include:
- The dictionary item attribute "allowUnlimitedText" was retired. Starting with v1.6, no data item can have a value longer than its specified length. Text lengths have been increased on data items that previously had this attribute, in the v23 data dictionary (Volume II) and XML base dictionary.
- Support for defining grouped items in base dictionaries was removed. The grouped items were removed from the v23 data dictionary (Volume II) and XML base dictionary.
- Reviewed wording of padding & trim attributes, added a notice of future retirement & changes to these attributes
- A new value was added for the padding attributes: "none" (meaning don't apply any padding). It was added in preparation of retiring the two space-padding values since one of them is the default.
