The Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) outlines a common set of principles, terms, and conditions to support the development of a framework that helps enable the exchange of electronic health information (EHI) regardless of where the data is stored. TEFCA is designed to scale EHI exchange nationwide and help ensure that health information networks (HINs), health care providers, health plans, individuals, and many more stakeholders, including public health, have secure access to relevant and authorized electronic health information when and where it is needed. As public health agencies (PHAs) at all levels, state, territorial, local, and tribal, develop approaches to work with TEFCA, it is critical that they understand the underlying concepts of the network and how other PHAs are planning to interact with TEFCA.
Led by the members of the public health community, this webinar series will explore a wide range of topics including the basics of TEFCA, the Public Health Standard Operation Procedure (SOP), implications for information blocking, impact on Data Modernization Initiatives (DMI), and others. Participants will hear from both TEFCA experts and their public health colleagues regarding the potential benefits and considerations of joining the TEFCA network. Attendees will also have a chance to ask questions and share their own jurisdictional plans.
This series will be divided into three sessions:
