| Important Meeting Announcement on Tuesday! House Labor-H Appropriations Subcommittee on Tuesday 9/2/25 - 5pm Eastern Please Urge Your Members of Congress to Take Action We have been waiting for the Labor-H Subcommittee of House Appropriations to hold their "markup" meeting for the Administration's FY 26 Budget. In this meeting, Labor-H Subcommittee will set the House tone on CDC and NCI (NIH) budget amounts. We need to get as many letters as possible to House members before Tuesday 5pm. See full details below and please send your letters (especially to the House) asap. Friends and family are encouraged to also participate......Please act now! NCRA and our partners continue to work to protect federal funding to support CDC's National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and the NCI's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program in the Administration's proposed fiscal year 2026 budget. In that budget, CDC-NPCR is eliminated, and the NCI-SEER Program is severely impacted by the proposed 40% funding cuts to NCI. With these two federal programs serving as the backbone of cancer surveillance in the United States, please join us by sending our messages to your Senators and Representative to be sure that US cancer surveillance remains in place and receives appropriate funding. These are new letters that we are sending with a more specific message informed by new information from the US Senate. Our previous campaign was successful and the US Senate in Appropriations Committee supported our requests, but more work needs to be done to ensure that the US House of Representatives continues that momentum. This means ensuring the full Senate hears how much Senate Appropriations Committee leadership was appreciated and that we need the full Senate to vote in support of Appropriations' recommendations as well. With that, we need your advocacy to support two (2) letters, one to your U.S. House of Representatives member and one to your U.S. Senators. Click the button below and follow instructions on the page. Both steps will take less than 5 minutes and will be sure our messages are heard: Support cancer surveillance funding at the same levels recently approved by the U.S. Senate Committee on Appropriations for FY 2026. Specifically: - Continuance of the CDC's National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR) and fund it at $53.4 million
- Fund the National Cancer Institute (NCI) at $7.374 billion, which will fully support NCI's Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program.
