The New York State Department of Health's Bureau of Cancer Epidemiology is seeking a Research Scientist II.
The incumbent will be responsible for data analysis using New York State Cancer Registry (NYSCR) data and linked data sources to improve understanding of cancer patterns in NYS. The incumbent will participate in research and evaluation projects using NYSCR data, including the design, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of findings. Research and evaluation projects will address multiple aspects of cancer epidemiology including incidence, stage at diagnosis, treatment, survival, and mortality. The incumbent will also interact with external researchers to provide guidance regarding use of NYSCR data for research and to collaborate on approved projects. Specific tasks will include conducting data linkages, contributing to quality improvement activities including machine learning projects, contributing to annual calls-for-data and other deliverables, and contributing to internal and external research and evaluation projects. Other appropriate related duties as assigned.
