The Cancer Data Registry of Idaho, a program of the Idaho Hospital Association (IHA), is seeking a Data Quality and Collection Coordinator. This position works collaboratively with the entire Cancer Data Registry of Idaho team and reports to the Director of Data Quality. This position is responsible for helping to maintain a high-quality statewide cancer surveillance system and ensuring the statewide cancer registry complies with reporting requirements for timeliness, completeness and accuracy of data collection using standards from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) Program, National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR), and the North American Association of Central Cancer Registries (NAACCR). This position will perform primary case abstraction to include coding and staging, case consolidation, error-checking and error resolution, death clearance, and data quality and completeness audits of reporting facilities. Position also provides technical assistance to hospital cancer registries.
Qualifications
A minimum of an Associate degree in science, biology, chemistry, public health, health information management, or a related field which must have included 6 hours of human anatomy and physiology; Bachelor's degree preferred. Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS) credential is strongly preferred. One year of cancer registry experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented and be able to solve problems. Must have knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, ICD-10 and ICD-O coding, and data collection and synthesis. Qualified candidates must have computer skills in Word and Excel and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
