Change in deadline for CDC call for Data

  • 1.  Change in deadline for CDC call for Data

    Posted 10-09-2019 04:34 PM

On behalf of CDC NPCR program, we would like to share the following information:

CDC's NPCR is required to obtain approval to receive cancer data submissions under the Paperwork Reduction Act by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget (OMB). Unfortunately, we were recently notified that the current approval has been delayed and we do not anticipate receiving the approval in time for the November 30th NPCR data submission deadline. As the NPCR-CSS Data Submission cannot proceed without this approval, we are delaying the NPCR data submission deadline date. The new data submissions deadline for both 24- and 12- month data will be January 10, 2020.  With this new date, we will not accept, or approve, requests for extensions beyond January 10.

We understand that this delay might be welcomed by some and an inconvenience to others.  We appreciate your patience and understanding.   Please note that while some of you may be ready to submit data at the end of November, we cannot accept submissions until we have received final OMB approval.  After OMB approval is confirmed,  we will send out a notice. If timing permits, NPCR registries are welcome to submit data files prior to January 10, as appropriate.

We would also like to take this opportunity to include other updates related to the 2019 NPCR-CSS Submission:

    1. Typographical errors were identified in the Submission Specifications in the column location for some data items, column locations were corrected.
    2. The GenEDITS software was recently updated to handle XML files and is also undergoing additional fixes for error handling.
    3. The 2019 NPCR-CSS Data Release Policy has been updated, changes are summarized on page 1.

A corrected Submissions Specifications document and Data Release Policy are posted to the NPCR-CSS Utilities Web Site. An updated GenEDITS Plus, configured for data submission, will also be posted to the NPCR-CSS Utilities Web Site.

    Best regards,
