    The Cancer Registry of Greater California's mission is to capture timely, high quality data from all cancer patients diagnosed in 48 of California's 58 counties, and to utilize this information for cancer research to improve health outcomes and reduce cancer morbidity and mortality.  To accomplish this goal, the Cancer Registry of Greater California (CRGC), a NCI-funded SEER registry and a program of the Public Health Institute (PHI), is recruiting for three cancer registry positions.

     

    The Cancer Registry of Greater California (CRGC) is seeking to hire one full time Quality Control Specialist I's (QCS I) (ID: #079-20) to support the program based in Sacramento, California.  This position is based in Sacramento; however, working remotely may be considered.  The Quality Control Specialist I performs regional core abstracting for surgery centers, treatment centers, Medical Doctor Only (MDO), Death Certificate Only (DCO), and Pathology Only (PO) cases. The QCSI also assists in other core regional activities such as, electronic pathology report screening and classifying, death clearance activities, regional quality control activities, and reliability studies.

    The CRGC is also seeking one full time Abstractor II (ID:#078-20) position to support the program based in Sacramento, California.  While the program is based in Sacramento, this position may work remotely.  The Abstractor II will perform casefinding by reviewing pathology reports, electronic medical records, the Medical Record Disease Index (MRDI) and other casefinding documents, and abstracting identified cases directly into the statewide database. They will also assist with other core regional abstracting activities as necessary.

    The CRGC is also seeking one full time Data Collection Specialist I (ID:#080-20) position to support the program based in Sacramento, California. This position in not a remote position and will be required to report to the Sacramento office.  The Data Collection Specialist I performs casefinding activities including screening and classifying electronic pathology reports, performing physician and hospital follow back, tracks responses to follow back, contacts physician offices, surgery centers, and radiation oncology centers for additional information, and maintains physician data base among other essential casefinding activities.  The applicant must have a strong background in anatomy and physiology. A medical background or experience is desired.  Strong computer software and hardware experience preferred.  CTR eligible preferred.
