The New York State Cancer Registry in Albany, NY is looking to hire a Research Scientist II to help oversee patient contact studies for breast and prostate cancer. The Research Scientist II will research, analyze and manage data necessary for several externally funded research studies of cancer outcomes. Responsibilities will include conducting database searches using SQL to identify eligible cases and analyses of case selection criteria using SAS. The Research Scientist II will also be responsible for developing and populating a study tracking database for each study. The Research Scientist II will coordinate the day-to-day conduct of patient contact studies, including supervising staff who will assist with contacting physicians and patients by mail and phone and data entry of patient responses. The incumbent will also prepare database extracts and status updates and will communicate regularly with external researchers on study progress. The Research Scientist II will also be involved in analyses of Cancer Registry data, including summarizing analysis results and disseminating findings through presentations, reports, and manuscripts.
