The Massachusetts Cancer Registry has the following job opening:
The Death Clearance Tumor Registrar is responsible for assisting with all Cancer Registry death clearance activities and will function as "Tumor Registrar" for the Massachusetts Cancer Registry.(MCR) Specifically, this individual works on expanded death clearance focused on additional follow-back to nursing homes and physicians, including contacting facilities, obtaining information, and conducting quality assurance and follow-up on cases reported. This position relates to all quality assurance and completeness of reporting objectives. A Certified Tumor Registrar Certification (CTR) is required for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
· Processes incoming cancer data from reporting facilities which requires obtaining missing information or edit issues through phone calls or correspondence with reporting entity.
· Assists in the death clearance process which includes contacting reporting facilities including hospitals, nursing homes, Hospices, and physician offices.
· Creates abstracts of cases missed as a result of the death clearance process.
· Maintains and performs record audits related to all quality assurance and completeness of reporting objectives.
· Receives, reviews, proofreads, and determines the most effective and efficient methods for accomplishing all incoming work.
· Participates in tumor registrar educational and training sessions.
