On behalf of management and staff of the New Jersey State Cancer Registry (NJSCR), it is great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Heather Stabinsky, MS.Ed, CTR, as our new Program Manager of Cancer Surveillance Operations.

Heather completed her Masters degree in Health Education from SUNY Brockport and began her CTR career in 2004 at the New York State Cancer Registry. She received her CTR Certification in 2005, and after working as a CTR for Temple University and nThrive, she began working for the New Jersey State Cancer Registry as a Cancer Registry Information Specialist in 2012.  In 2016, she was appointed as New Jersey's NPCR-designated Education Training Coordinator. Heather has also contributed to many cancer registry projects including the SEER Training Website revision and has volunteered for several NAACCR, NCRA, and ORANJ (Oncology Registrars of New Jersey) committees. She currently is the NCRA NAACCR Liaison.

As Program Manager, Heather will be responsible for the management and oversight of the day-to-day operations of the NJSCR and will work with local providers, registrars, hospital representatives, and other state and national agencies including SEER, NPCR, and NAACCR to ensure that the highest quality cancer surveillance data are collected in a timely and effective manner and in compliance with national data quality standards. In this critical leadership role, Heather will work closely with me and Dr. Lisa Paddock, Deputy Director, on strategic planning, fostering key relationships, developing novel methods that will contribute to the success of the State's Center for Excellence for Cancer Surveillance, a collaborative partnership between the New Jersey State Department of Health and the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey, the state's only NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center.

We are over the moon to have Heather in this role!
