Epidemiologist III – Epidemiologist Supervisor
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), Office of Population Health, (OPH) and the Office of Data Management & Outcomes Assessment (ODMOA) seeks to hire an experienced Epidemiologist for the Massachusetts Cancer Registry (MCR). The selected candidate will supervise the MCR's epidemiology unit, design epidemiology studies for grant submissions. The incumbent will also provide expertise in the design, oversight and evaluation of cancer epidemiology studies, review and analyze cancer incidence and mortality data, participate in quality control efforts, interpret statistics and prepare reports.
Required Qualifications:
· Experience in the principles and practices of epidemiology, biology and disease processes.
· Understanding of epidemiologic and biostatistics research methods and techniques and the methods of statistical report writing.
· Ability to design analysis plans, collect and manage epidemiological data, conduct statistical analyses, and interpret findings.
· Capacity to use current knowledge of causes of disease and to implement the principles of informatics to guide and support epidemiologic practice.
· Competent with the ability to supervise staff including performance appraisal, employee coaching/training/development, and performance review.
· Strong written and oral communication skills with proficiency establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with others.
· Ability to gather information by examining records and documents and through questioning individuals.
· Proficient in analyzing and determining the applicability of scientific data, drawing conclusions, and making appropriate recommendations.
