    Cancer Subject Matter Specialist

    As the Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR) subject matter expert, you will be an integral team member providing subject-matter expertise related to the Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR) including the database, documentation, reference tables, and associated standards to users within and outside Statistics Canada including provincial/territorial/federal government departments, the international cancer registry community, researchers, academics and media. 

    You will be responsible for overseeing the redesign of the staging dataset for the Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR), providing subject matter advice on the classification of cancer data, revision of standards, as well as development of edits. You will network with external contacts and stakeholders in support of committee work for the Canadian Council of Cancer Registries.

    Duties

    Provide subject matter expertise and support to foster accurate and consistent use of CCR content for data providers, internal and external data users and stakeholders.

    Provide subject matter advice, feedback and recommendations on CCR standards, collection, data processing and editing, internal record linkage for document and communicate CCR requirements to data providers and Statistics Canada.

    Plan and conduct analysis to assess variance, comparability over time, quality and relevance as a result of coding standards and reporting requirements.

    Plan and conduct analysis to assess methods and activities, and interpret user's requirements to inform improvements to CCR standards, collection and production.

    Identify, document and communicate changes in CCR data elements to inform and support the collection, processing and analysis of the CCR by the Cancer Statistics Section at Statistics Canada.

    Review, synthesize and disseminate standards and medical classification rules as directed by the Canadian Council of Cancer Registries (CCCR) to
    Participate in committee work and development projects as a representative of Statistics Canada.

    Salary Range : $81,858 to $94,219

    Subject Matter and Data Production Manager

     

     As the subject matter and data production manager, you will be an integral team member providing subject matter expertise related to cancer coding, classification and standards and managing the data collection of the Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR). You will also have the opportunity to network with external contacts and stakeholders in support of committee work for the Canadian Council of Cancer Registries.

    Duties

    Supervise the subject matter team responsible for supporting analytical activities using CCR data. 

    Supervise the data production team responsible for the annual CCR data collection and processing activities of the Canadian Cancer Registry database and working collaboratively with the Provincial and Territorial Cancer Registries (PTCRs) to ensure that collection requirements are understood, adhered to and improvements/changes are implemented as required on an annual basis.

    Provide subject-matter expertise and support related to the Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR) to foster accurate and consistent use of CCR content for data providers, internal and external data users and stakeholders.

    Informs CCR team of any technical issues or decisions which affect data processing, data transmission, data quality or documentation.

    Represent Statistics Canada on working groups or committees where detailed subject matter knowledge of CCR data is required. Informs Statistics Canada management of any relevant developments and gives annual status updates.

    Informs Statistics Canada management of any changes affecting data quality or use of CCR data.

    Collaborate with council working groups to review, synthesize and disseminate standards and medical classification rules as directed by the Canadian Council of Cancer Registries (CCCR) to document and communicate Canadian Cancer Registry (CCR) requirements to data providers and Statistics Canada.

    Identify, document and communicate changes in CCR variables to inform and support the collection, processing and analysis of the CCR by the Cancer Statistics Section at Statistics Canada.
