The National Cancer Institute is pleased to announce award of a contract to establish a central/single IRB (CIRB) for review of SEER data requests, as well as research studies using the VPR Cancer Linkage System.  The contract was awarded to Biomedical Research Alliance of New York (BRANY) LLC, a privately held company that was organized in 1998 as an initiative of the New York Academy of Medicine.  Today BRANY's owners include four of the original founders, NYU School of Medicine, Montefiore Medical Center, Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and Northwell Health.

For 23 years, BRANY has provided Institutional Review Board (IRB) services to academic medical centers, community hospitals, independent research sites, sponsors, and government agencies in the United States. Currently, BRANY IRB serves as the IRB of record for more than 1600 active research studies. BRANY is staffed with close to 100 professionals with expertise in human subject protection, clinical research administration, research education and research compliance. The BRANY team is knowledgeable, experienced, and also places a high priority on providing clients with the highest level of customer service and support.

The experience that BRANY IRB has developed serving as a CIRB for multi-site projects over the years has made their team very adept at developing the processes and procedures necessary to establish an efficient, high-quality IRB review process. BRANY IRB is proud to partner with NCI, NAACCR, and U.S. cancer registries to develop a streamlined CIRB review process for initiatives involving cancer registry data.

Please Save the Date!  On Monday, October 25th from 12-1 Eastern NAACCR will host a webinar where BRANY will provide an overview of the CIRB initiative.  More details to come!
