    The Surveillance Research Program invites you to join our upcoming webinars on resources for the analysis of SEER and other cancer surveillance data. These trainings will include information on SEER*Stat, statistics, variables, methods, and software. Below is a list of the first four topics-register for all or as many as you'd like!

     

    These trainings are open to the public and will include question and answer sessions. Please feel free to share this invitation with interested audiences. The webinars will be recorded and posted on our website so that you can attend them at your convenience.

     

    Thursday, October 14, 1pm-3pm (ET): SEER and SEER*Stat Overview

    • Overview of the SEER program and SEER data
    • Overview of SEER*Stat and its new GUI
    • Sessions: Case listing, Frequencies, and Rates
    • Demonstration of graphical capabilities in new SEER*Stat
    • Data bases (Research vs Research Plus)
    • Case selections
    • Creating user defined variables and merged variables
    • Exporting the data

     

    Thursday, October 28, 1pm-3pm (ET): Survival

    • 5 types of survival
      • Net vs Crude
      • Relative survival vs cause-specific survival
    • Age-standardized survival
    • Period survival
    • Conditional survival

     

    Tuesday, November 2, 1pm-3pm (ET): SEER Variables

    • Variables by categories: demographics, tumor characteristics, treatment, follow-up and dates
    • Cancer type recodes
    • Cancer type specific variables
    • Staging definitions and caution when using them overtime
    • County attributes-not individual level but at the county level

     

    Thursday, November 4, 1pm-3pm (ET): Delay and Joinpoint

    • Overview of methods to estimate adjustment delay in reporting
    • Using SEER*Stat to calculate delay adjusted incidence rates
    • Overview of the Joinpoint method
    • Using Joinpoint to calculate trends in delay adjusted and not delay adjusted incidence rates
